Oddworld Inhabitants

Rich McKain is Senior Animator in the CG Department of Oddworld Inhabitants®. Oddworld Inhabitants is a progressive studio, attracting talent from around the world and producing award winning animation with titles such as Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee®, Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus® and Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee®.

The latest title, Oddworld Stranger's Wrath™, was released on January 26 th 2005. The game’s opening movie has won acclaim, taking the Gold World Medal for Best CG Images in 2005 and the Gold World Medal for Best Soundtrack/Audio Mix in 2004 from the New York Festivals as well as Best of Class—Animation at the Axiem Awards, the Excellence Award in 3D Character in Action at Expose 2, and Best Graphics and Animation (non broadcast) at the NAB — ICE Awards in 2004. The movie was also included in the 2004 SIGGRAPH Animation Theater.

Rich became interested in animation in high school when he took a rudimentary class in computer graphics and animation. He began staying well after class, working on a short film, without noticing the time go by. Toy Story was released in theaters around that time, and he realized he could be doing this for a living. Largely self-taught, Rich attended the Alberta College of Art and Design and the University of Utah. Currently he is working on the yet unannounced Oddworld project.
